music video evaluation

I thought the pre-production and pitch was easy because while listening to the songs the only one that gave an idea was the song Vandals and an idea just came to me about the guys in hoods running round town and spray painting every thing. But the fall back was that fact that I could not do it because there could have been complications between the police so I had to work with Carrie on her project.

Her idea was good but there were many complications. During the shooting Carrie’s friend and part of the cast could not make it all the time when he said he could come he bailed out each time so we did not record for two weeks. Then we had problems about when we should book out the equipment. The worst problem would be the dates and time we were filming because of all the problems they were always being rearranged. And when did finally get a date to start filming we hardly got any thing done things kept going wrong again. Carrie and Peter (the other cast member) kept debating what angle shots and changes we should make and we ran out of time. The day of filming Peter stayed in bed and was an hour late showing up for filming. So because of all these set backs happening and because it was not planned enough we only got four or five small shots and now we need to use clips from others work and put those clips together to the song we chosen.

Using final cut pro I put the song vandals in and use some pre-recorded clips to put with it. The idea that I got for it was the boy in the purple shirt who is being followed and is then killed in a car park by the following person, then a ghost is haunting him and he starts to run away. There were not many clips of him running away so I decided to do some thing a bit odd and take all the clips and reverse them and the song; like time was going backwards to before he began to follow him. I got the first few clips and the beginning of the song again and played them normally and inserted a blooper clip where he comes out too soon and back I used that clip and cross dissolved a clip of the ghost so he gets second thoughts and leaves.

Documentary Evaluation

To do my market square documentary I used final cut pro. I started my project by doing a pitch on what I would be doing for the documentary and following that after making some changes I began to create away to do my project. During the pre-production I used some similar techniques that I used in my animation assignment. I used story boards to know some of the angles and shots I wanted for the fountain. Then I began to write down questions and picked the ones I would use. After I had finished all the planning I started to do the production. I began by taking plenty shots of the fountain and I also recorded the clock chiming and the big wheel for some extra footage.

Assinment 5.3

Pre-production:
On the 26th January I had t o present my pitch for my documentary however I was ill so I did not so instead I E-mailed my work to my teacher.
After I started to do my portfolio for my pre-production I changed it from doing a documentary about the development to a documentary about the fountain. I thought that a documentary about the development would be a bit harder because I have not really been in Nottingham for long and do not know much about it but I was here for the construction of the fountain. Also during interviews with the public that many people might not know much about the construction or history themselves.

Production:
On the 16th February we began the production I was unsure on how and what to do so I struggled a bit at the beginning but got better as I progressed. Me and my partner we’re both unsure about asking the public so we kept shooting shots that we needed such as the fountain and the left lion statue. We only started to ask the public our questions when we worked with Fred.

Post-production
On the 23rd March after about a week of filming we began to edit our footage. After putting it on final cut-pro, going over what we had recorded and saving/capturing the footage we took what we needed and began to put it into a sequence I added titles of my questions that I asked the public onto some of the fountain footage, then it goes into the publics answers and finally a small slide show with pictures of the fountain and background music.
